We’re HOME!

Made it to Changi Airport about 3:30 pm, which was definitely early for our 7:50 pm flight, but actually worked out quite well!  Through security easily, and thanks to our CapitalOne Venture card, there was a wonderful Priority Pass airport lounge we could use!  There were lots of comfortable chairs and it was nice and cool and quiet – also had its own bathroom and showers.  Very good food and drink, although we didn’t really avail ourselves of that feature, knowing we’d be eating when we got onto the Singapore Airlines plane.

Finally down to the gate and onto the plane and we were off!  As it turned out, I was in the front row of Premium Economy (different because we changed dates on the trip…long story) but there was no one next to me, which gave me lots of room!  Debby was two rows behind me on the aisle - and turns out – the young Indian man next to her apparently NEVER got up once during the entire 14½ hour flight!  I mean, IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?  Medically?  Certainly can’t be healthy!

My boeuf bourgignon was fabulous, although my second meal (just prior to landing) of chicken satay was not very good – or maybe I was just spoiled from the wonderful satay we enjoyed in Singapore!  Deb said her lamb main course was also excellent, and right now I’m forgetting what her second course was.

At any rate, Deb said she slept for at least 4-5 hours – and how people can sleep on airplanes, I will NEVER understand, and I watched movies!  I am definitely jealous!

Landed about 8 pm in SFO, thanks to Global Entry cleared customs/immigration in literally seconds, and took a cab to the Hilton Garden Inn SFO Airport.  Nice double room; very comfortable and just what we needed.  I grabbed a glass of wine at the bar on the way up – and after we both showered (to rid ourselves of the “travel schmutz…”) I relaxed with Sports Center (YAY, ESPN is back!) and a lovely California Sauvignon Blanc and Deb went to sleep.  (R says that the television is probably broken as ESPN or the Tennis Channel has not been watched in our house in the past 7days, and may have gone on strike in protest!! Ha! Ha!)

Up this morning at 5, out the door and to the airport by 5:30 am and our plane left right on time at 8:15 am.  Very nice morning, and smooth flight into Tucson.  Landed about 10 am, and R was there to meet us!!

So, we’re home after an amazing week!  Thank you to everyone who joined us and sent us comments and good wishes!  We loved hearing from you!

So, until our next journey!

Lots of love,

m
